Dahlia Series: Burning Breath
This piece was an attempt to both express and raise awareness of major depressive disorder. The feelings that come with this disorder can be extremely confusing and hard to explain.
With this piece I’m trying to show depression for what it really is: A disease, not a personality type. A person can, in fact, have a very vibrant, energetic, life-loving personality, but also suffer from depression and be miserable because of it. It’s like a dark shadow that’s always there, lurking beneath the surface or seeping out and smothering the color from your life.
